Dress Code

A student’s appearance reflects the quality of the school and the student’s conduct and work. Uniforms should be clean and neat.  Students must arrive at and leave from school in uniform (including bus ride).  The uniform policy will be strictly enforced. Violations will result in 1) verbal reminder 2) written notice requiring parent’s signature 3) detention and/or wear uniform on casual dress days.

All uniform items must be purchased through the Donnelly’s Uniform Company.  The only exceptions are the various school and sports-related T-shirts and sweatshirts purchased through the sports programs or the school and worn on special days. 

PRE-K

FAS navy sweat pants or navy shorts; FAS polo shirt (short or long sleeves) and sneakers or other comfortable shoes.  On cold days, students wear the FAS navy sweat shirt over the FAS polo shirt.

From May 1 until November 1, navy blue shorts maybe worn with the FAS polo shirt.

BOYS (K-8)

Gray pants (tri-blend flannel or twill)

Blue Oxford shirt (long or short sleeve), worn tucked in

FAS polo shirt (long or short sleeve) grades K-5 only

Navy v-neck pullover sweater (sleeveless or long sleeve) with FAS monogram.  No other sweaters or sweatshirts may be worn as part of the uniform.

A navy/gray reversible belt must be worn at all times (except K).

FAS navy necktie (grades 6-8)

Navy or gray crew socks 

Simple non marking dark shoes (available at Donnelly’s) - no athletic shoes, hikers, high tops or boots allowed.

The only jewelry permitted is a watch, a ring, a tie clip and a simple necklace

Hair must be well-groomed and no longer than the top of the collar, the ears and eyebrows.

Hairstyles must be simple.  No fads are allowed (highlights, shaved heads, shaved lines/designs, platform cuts, Mohawks, etc.).

Body or tongue piercing, tattoos are not allowed. 

Backpacks:  Due to fire regulations, rolling backpacks are not allowed.

BOYS’ WARM WEATHER UNIFORM (MAY 1- NOV. 1) OPTIONAL – Pre-K - 8

FAS polo shirt, navy twill shorts, navy crew socks.


GIRLS


Grades K-5  
                                                                          

Plaid jumper (mid knee)                    

Blue Peter Pan collar blouse (long or short sleeves)

FAS long sleeve V-neck pullover or cardigan sweater (No other sweaters or sweatshirts may be worn as part of the uniform.

Navy knee socks or tights

Simple non-marking dark school shoes    flat style only.  No sneakers, platform shoes, slipper/ballet type shoes, clogs, crocs, sandals, boots or other high shoes.

Grades 6-8

Plaid skirt (mid knee)

Blue Oxford blouse (long or short sleeve)

FAS navy V-neck sweater – sleeveless or long sleeve.  (all 6-8 gr. girls must wear one or the other at all times)

FAS navy crossover tie

Navy knee socks or tights

Simple dark non-marking school shoes – must not exceed a 1-inch heel – available at Donnelly’s

No sneakers, platform shoes, clogs, sandals, crocs, slipper/ballet type shoes, boots, or high shoes



GIRLS WARM WEATHER UNIFORM (MAY 1-NOV. 1) OPTIONAL

 Polo shirt with FAS monogram, navy twill shorts, navy ankle socks and school shoes

GIRLS WINTER UNIFORM (NOV. 1 – MAY 1) OPTIONAL


Harvey
navy twill pants, uniform blouse, girls’ tie (6-8), long-sleeve V-neck sweater (gr. K-8).

The only jewelry permitted is one pair of stud earrings (worn in earlobe), a watch, a simple ring and necklace.

Make-up and nail polish are not allowed

Body or tongue piercing is not allowed. 

Hairstyles must be simple and not obscure vision.  No dyed, tinted, colored, highlighted or streaked hair.

Scrunchies, barrettes and headbands must be blue or match the uniform.

Backpacks:  Due to fire regulations, rolling backpacks are not allowed.

For both girls and boys, only white undershirts/T-shirts may be worn under blouses or shirts.  Turtleneck sweaters are not allowed.

GYM UNIFORM FOR ALL STUDENTS (Pre-K - 8)

FAS sweatshirt, sweatpants, T-shirt (K-8) or FAS polo shirt, shorts (May 1- Nov 1) with the FAS monogram and simple non-distracting sneakers.

OUT OF UNIFORM DAYS

COLOR DAY:  sponsored by the PTO – usually holiday themed – students pay $1.00

DESIGNATED NO-UNIFORM DAY:  earned as a reward – no fee

SPIRIT DAY:  specially designated days – students wear any FAS monogram top (sweatshirt, t-shirt, sweater, polo shirt) with casual pants or jeans with belts (boys) - no fee.

When students are not in school uniform, appropriate dress is required: 

Flip-flops or sandals, crocs, tank tops, midriff or low cut tops, off the shoulder shirts, T-shirts with inappropriate sayings, short skirts, torn jeans, etc. are not permitted. 

Shorts are allowed in warm weather but must be knee length or capris may be worn. 

All clothing must be neat and clean.

Students who do not dress appropriately will forfeit their next no uniform opportunity.  They may also be sent home or given FAS clothing to wear for the day.

The administration reserves the right to interpret dress code violations and guidelines.
